Lowertown Farm Livery Yard.
The horses are kept in a herd environment and as naturally as possible which means that, whilst we still maintain a careful fieldwork programme and regular farriery and worming, your horse is in a secure and relaxed natural environment.
The horse riding around Dartmoor is fabulous with stretches of wide open common for a long canter, woodland with quiet lanes and bridlepaths, with great views stretching over Dartmoor and even out to the sea.
Hannah is a fully qualified Horse Behaviourist, she started riding when she was only two years old and has experience of dealing with all types of horses from ex-racers to feral Dartmoor ponies. She studied the FdSc in Equine Training and Behaviour alongside other qualifications from Duchy College from 2000.

Dartmoor Ponies for sale *Updated Febuary 2012*
Our foals are handled lightly and regularly from six months of age using natural horsemanship methods.
We run an established herd of good quality and carefully selected mares and we aim to produce confident and happy ponies. This means that your pony has had the best start in life with positive handling and regular worming.
Our stallion Merribridge Groomsman produces good quality hardy stock with great straight paces and excellent personalities. His pedigree bloodlines include Sherberton Joshua, Catesby Crusader II and Cawsand Thunder.
We work with the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust producing pedigree, part-bred and heritage approved Dartmoor ponies suitable for riding, companion ponies, driving and conservation grazing.
All our ponies are handled before they are sold this means that they have learn't the basics - headcollar on, leading, touched all over, leading, travelling and gradually getting used to farm machinery etc.
Our stallion was named in the 2010 Dartmoor Pony Society Diary as one of three working stallions directly linked to Hele Romeo - one of the three original Dartmoor stallions.
2009 ponies
Blackator Ashley – part-bred Dartmoor gelding by Shilstone Rocks Starfighter. Frequently handled and wormed. First pony to come up to you in the field, especially if you have a bucket! He is a real sweety that would excel in driving/riding/pony club.
Has done showcase days and horse agilty, doesn't get too phased by anything. Never kicked or bitten, perfect for family home. To make 12.2hh. Sensibly priced to sell, sad sale as this little fella is a real character. Ready to back and bring on summer 2012. £375
2010 ponies
Blackator Black Knight - Pedigree Dartmoor colt, fabulous straight, flowing paces perfect for the show ring. Rare bloodlines so also stallion potential. Been lightly handled at six months but needs further handling so only suitable for experienced home. Maturing really nicely. No vices, sound and sweet-itch free. £450

Blackator Belle- Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Approved filly to make 11.2hh, by Merribridge Groomsman out of a (very good-looking!) Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Approved mare. She has had regular handling, and been frequently wormed.
We took her to the DPHT's Showcase day in July 2011, so has also travelled in a trailer and done a basic horse agility course. She would be suitable for a steady family home or conservation grazing as she is a slightly nervous pony, however she is gaining in confidence as she matures with regular handling. Growning into a lovely little inquisive pony that would be a great addition to any home. No vices, sound and sweet-itch free.
£350

If you would like to loan a pony or foal we would like you to call as although we would prefer our ponies to go to permanent family homes, this could be a good option for both parties. I can send photos of a particular pony - just send me an email. Transport can be arranged or recommended.
