Climbing on Dartmoor

Climbing holidays in Devon

Dartmoor is one of the wildest and most remote areas in the South West of England, the granite tors which sit amongst the unique countryside make Dartmoor famous. Providing climbers with super bouldering and challenging climbing routes.

If you are interested in climbing, Dartmoor has a huge amount of opportunity’s to go leading, bouldering or just to throw a top rope up on a climb and have a bit of fun.
Our B&B is situated near some outstanding granite tors giving you plenty of venues to choose from.

If you need help to decide what tor would be best for you either read our climbing guides, or speak to Luke as he is a qualified climbing instructor and is happy to assist you with his knowledge of the local Tors.

We can also send you out on your day with a packed lunch so you can sit up on the hills and enjoy the amazing views whilst having a bite to eat.
Some of the local tors include Haytor (in photo) - which good for leading, Bonehill rocks for great bouldering (with a massive 119 recorded climbs) and Hound Tor which has wide variety of all rock related activities others venues include Dewerstone, Combestone Tor, Lakeside Boulders and Sheep’s Tor or you could even go down to the coastline and climb in the Torbay area.

The Dartmoor National Park Authority website has further information about access agreements (mainly on climbs within the firing rangers – the rest is pretty straight-forward) and regulations regarding climbing on Dartmoor in order to protect the valuable landscape.

Granite Trails and Crag to Mountain are Rock Climbing, Caving, Hill Walking and Mountaineering companies based on Dartmoor, just a few miles away from our B&B. They offer friendly, professional courses and day trips. We also highly recommend Vertical Frontiers.
