Bring your horse on holiday to Dartmoor National Park

Explore the beauty of Dartmoor with your own horse, after all they deserve a holiday too once in a while. Many horses love to explore new and exciting bridle paths, quiet country lanes, open moorland, gorgeous valleys and woodland, its a paradise for riders too.

Holiday livery is on a do-it-yourself grass livery basis, charged at £10 per horse per night. Holiday liveries will be kept separate from our horses at all times.

We can recommend the best rides throughout your stay with us and even keep an eye on your horse whilst you enjoy the rest of what Dartmoor has to offer. Many of our local pubs are also horse-friendly - The Rugglestone Inn, The Forest Inn and The Warren House Inn all have specific tying up areas outside the pub ready for your horse to rest during the day ride.

There are also many drag hunts within a short ride away throughout the hunting season, and we can recommend a local hireling yard.

If you would like to bring your horse on holiday we request that the horse’s tetanus and flu vaccinations are up to date and the horse is fully insured.

Note: we do not accept stallions on livery.

Riding stables on Dartmoor

If you don't have your own horse there are a number of quality riding stables within Dartmoor National Park including Adventure Clydesdale, who have very responsive and forward going rare-breed horses ideal for the experienced rider, otherwise Shilstone Rocks have a range of horses for the novice rider up to the experienced rider.

Horse riding can be organised during your stay or booked beforehand directly with the Trekking Centres.
