Our herd of Dartmoor ponies
After a long break of breeding Dartmoor ponies (thirty odd years ago), we started breeding Blackator ponies again in 2007.
We own a herd of carefully selected Pedigree and Heritage Approved mares (true to type to Dartmoor pony Society breed standards) and we produce well tempered family ponies.
Our gorgeous stallion is called Lightening Flash (Sire: Cosdon Aristocrat) and his offspring are regularly available in the autumn each year. With a superb pedigree, he's also fully registered along with being approved by the commoners council.
The welfare of our ponies is extremely important to us as we aim to produce confident and happy ponies. This means that your pony has had the best start in life with great conformation, positive handling and regular worming.
All foals sold privately are professionally handled regularly from six months of age, sometimes we sell offspring through the Dartmoor Hill Pony Association online auction, still with the Blackator prefix.
We are Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Recognised Pony Keepers for producing quality Dartmoor ponies that are responsibly bred and well managed.
We have sold ponies for riding, driving, companionship, conservation grazing, horse agility, showing and family pets - even over the internet and phone without viewing!
We regularly receive updates from happy owners.

"We had a good journey home, arriving just before 2pm. Cavalier travelled well and offloaded like a beach donkey, calm and quiet. I turned him out in the little paddock outside our kitchen window and he began grazing straight away, didn’t even stop to take in his surroundings!"
“Hi just wanted to let you know Blackator Ashley aka Nelson is now backed, we took him to the beach last week, he loved it in the sea, he has turned out a little star x”
"Nothing phases either of them – they will lie down and go to sleep right next to where we are chain sawing and chopping wood – they always have to know what is going on. They were both brilliant with the farrier from the very first time so that is good! They are both very vocal and always scream their heads off at mealtimes and if we have been out – when we get home – which is great. So all in all, yes we are very happy with them thank you."
"Just to update you, Fire Cracker is still doing brilliantly! He and his chum are out all of the time now and have been enjoying sunbathing and playing in the lovely sunshine we've been getting. He gets a brush down and his feet picked out most days and loves it! He has the most amazing temperament!"
"She just keeps getting better"
